+ General Joke
A group of Alabama friends went deer hunting and paired off in twos for the
day. That night, one of the hunters returned alone, staggering under the
weight of an eight-point buck. 'Where's Henry?' the others asked.
'Henry had a stroke of some kind. He's a couple of miles back up the trail,'
the successful hunter replied. 'You left Henry laying out there and carried
the deer back?' they inquired.

'A tough call,' nodded the hunter. 'But I figured no one is going to steal
Henry.'

+ General Joke
My husband and I used to have a lovely setter named Paddy who was very
well loved by our two children.

Sadly, one day, Paddy was hit and killed by a neighbor's car while
chasing a squirrel. That evening, when the children returned home from
school, I called them in to explain the tragedy. Quite surprisingly,
they accepted the grim news with little comment and returned to the
yard to play.

After fifteen minutes or so, they found me in the kitchen and asked
where Paddy was. Thinking they were in some form of denial, I gently
started to describe again what had happened to their beloved pet.

The younger boy burst into tears and sobbed, "Paddy? I thought you
said Daddy."

Stranded
(by ron unsworth)

A traveler was stumbling through the desert, desperate for water,
when he saw something far off in the distance. Hoping to find water,
he walked towards the image, only to find a little old peddler
sitting at a card table with a bunch of neckties laid out.

The parched wanderer asked, "Please, I'm dying of thirst, can I have some water?"
The man replied, "I don't have any water, but why don't you buy a tie?
Here's one that goes nicely with your clothes."
The desperate man shouted, "I don't want a tie, you idiot, I need water!"

"OK, don't buy a tie. But to show you what a nice guy I am,
I'll tell you that over that hill there, about 5 miles, is a nice restaurant.
Walk that way, and they'll give you all the water you want."

The man thanked the peddler and walked away towards the hill and
eventually disappeared out of sight. Three hours later he returned.
The man at the card table said, "I told you, about 5 miles over that hill.

Couldn't you find it?" "I found it all right.
They wouldn't let me in without a tie."

Well a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I've been tres busy over the last few weeks, but thankfully my final
'event' of the season occurs over the next few days with the girl
friend's Birthday, leaving me free to enjoy the rest of January!

However, I have a confession to make: I'm off to my very first
tango lesson tonight with the lady. As my flatmate rightly points out,
I am a litle bit whipped!

+ General Joke
2008 Darwin Awards

You've been waiting for them with baited breath, so without further
ado, here are the 2008 Darwin awards.

Eighth Place

In Detroit , a 41-year-old man got stuck and drowned in two feet of
water after squeezing head first through an 18-inch-wide sewer grate to
retrieve his car keys.

Seventh Place

A 49-year-old San Francisco stockbroker, who 'totally zoned when he
ran,' accidentally, jogged off a 100-foot high cliff on his daily run.

Sixth Place

While at the beach, Daniel Jones, 21, dug an 8 foot hole for protection
from the wind and had been sitting in a beach chair at the bottom, when
it collapsed, burying him beneath 5 feet of sand. People on the beach
used their hands and shovels trying to get him out but could not reach
him. It took rescue workers using heavy equipment almost an hour to
free him. Jones was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Fifth Place

Santiago Alvarado, 24, was killed as he fell through the ceiling of a
bicycle shop he was burglarizing. Death was caused when the long
flashlight he had placed in his mouth to keep his hands free rammed
into the base of his skull as he hit the floor.

Fourth Place

Sylvester Briddell, Jr., 26, was killed as he won a bet with friends
who said he would not put a revolver loaded with four bullets into his
mouth and pull the trigger.

Third Place

After stepping around a marked police patrol car parked at the front
door, a man walked into H&J Leather & Firearms intent on robbing the
store. The shop was full of customers and a uniformed officer was
standing at the counter. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber
announced a hold-up and fired a few wild shots from a target pistol.
The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, and several customers
also drew their guns and fired. The robber was pronounced dead at the
scene by Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended
cartridge cases in the shop.
The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics
identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt.

HONORABLE MENTION

Paul Stiller, 47, and his wife Bonnie were bored just driving around at
2:00 A.M. so they lit a quarter stick of dynamite to toss out the
window to see what would happen. Apparently they failed to notice the
window was closed.

RUNNER UP

Kerry Bingham had been drinking with several friends when one of them
said they knew a person who had bungee-jumped from a local bridge in
the middle of traffic. The conversation grew more heated and at least
10 men trooped along the walkway of the bridge at 4:30 AM. Upon arrival
at the midpoint of the bridge they discovered that no one had brought a
bungee rope's; Bingham, who had continued drinking, volunteered and
pointed out that a coil of lineman's cable, lay near by. They secured
one end around Bingham's leg and then tied the other to the bridge. His
fall lasted 40 feet before the cable tightened and tore his foot off at
the ankle.

He miraculously survived his fall into the icy water and was rescued by
two nearby fishermen. Bingham's foot was never located.

AND THE WINNER IS....

Zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt fed his constipated elephant 22 doses of
animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes
before the plugged-up pachyderm finally got relief. Investigators say
ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an
olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded. The sheer force of
the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr Riesfeldt to the ground
where he struck his head on a rock as the elephant continued to
evacuate 200 pounds of dung on top of him. It seems to be just one of
those freak accidents that proves... 'Shit happens'.

IT ALWAYS SEEMS IMPORTANT TO THANK THESE PEOPLE FOR REMOVING
THEMSELVES FROM THE GENE POOL...

I was going down an elevator with three or four women, all of whom
were strangers to me.

At the first floor, I automatically stepped to one side to let them
all off.

As the last one preceded me, she turned and said, "When Women's Lib
takes over, you'll get off first."

"Listen, lady," I said, smiling, "I'm a Woman's Lib-er myself.  I
want all women to be free."

"You do?" she said, rather astonished.

"Yes," I said. "I hate it when they charge."

Trip to Wal-Mart

You are in the middle of some kind of project around the house
mowing the lawn, putting a new fence in, painting the living room,
or whatever.  You are hot and sweaty, covered in dirt or paint.  You
have your old work clothes on.  You know the outfit - shorts with
the hole in crotch, old T-shirt with a stain from who knows what,
and an old pair of tennis shoes.

Right in the middle of this great home improvement project you
realize you need to run to Wal-Mart to get something to help complete
the job.

Depending on your age you might do the following:

In your 20's:

Stop what you are doing.  Shave, take a shower, blow dry your hair,
brush your teeth, floss, and put on clean clothes.  Check yourself
in the mirror and flex.  Add a dab of your favorite cologne because
you never know, you just might meet some hot chick while standing
in the checkout lane.  You went to school with the pretty girl
running the register.

In your 30's:

Stop what you are doing, put on clean shorts and shirt.  Change
shoes.  You married the hot chick so no need for much else.  Wash
your hands and comb your hair.  Check yourself in the mirror.
Still got it.  Add a shot of your favorite cologne to cover the
smell.  The cute girl running the register is the kid sister to
someone you went to school with.

In your 40's:

Stop what you are doing.  Put a sweatshirt that is long enough to
cover the hole in the crotch of your shorts.  Put on different
shoes and a hat.  Wash your hands.  Your bottle of Brute Cologne
is almost empty so you don't want to waste any of it on a trip to
Wal-Mart.  Check yourself in the mirror and do more sucking in than
flexing.  The spicy young thing running the register is your
daughter's age and you feel weird thinking she is spicy.

In your 50's:

Stop what you are doing.  Put a hat on, wipe the dirt off your hands
onto your shirt.  Change shoes because you don't want to get dirt
in your new sports car.  Check yourself in the mirror and you swear
not to wear that shirt anymore because it makes you look fat.  The
cutie running the register smiles when she sees you coming and you
think you still have it.  Then you remember the hat you have on is
from Buddy's Bait & Beer Bar and it says, "I Got Worms."

In your 60's:

Stop what you are doing.  No need for a hat anymore.  Hose the dog
poop off your shoes.  The mirror was shattered when you were in
your 50's.  You hope you have underwear on so nothing hangs out
the hole in you pants.  The girl running the register may be cute,
but you don't have your glasses on so you are not sure.

In your 70's:

Stop what you are doing.  Wait to go to Wal-Mart until they have
your prescriptions ready, too.  Don't even notice the dog poop on
your shoes.  The young thing at the register smiles at you because
you remind her of her grandfather.

In your 80's:

Stop what you are doing.  Start again.  Then stop again.  Now you
remember you needed to go to Wal-Mart.  Go to Wal-Mart and wander
around trying to think what it is you are looking for.  Fart out
loud and you think someone called out your name.  You went to
school with the old lady who greeted you at the front door.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.
A good time to keep your mouth shut is when you're in deep water.
In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird.
Now the World is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.
Business conventions are important because they demonstrate how many
people a company can operate without.
DOUBLE DOSE
A man went to the doctor's office to get a double dose of Viagra.
The doctor told him that he couldn't prescribe him a double dose.
"Why not?" asked the man.
"Because it's not safe," replied the doctor.
"But I need it really bad," said the man. "My girlfriend is coming
into town on Friday; my ex-wife will be here on Saturday; and my
wife is coming home on Sunday.  Can't you see? I must have a double
dose."
The doctor finally relented saying, "Okay, I'll give it to you, but
you have to come in on Monday morning so that I can check you to see
if there were any side effects."
On Monday, the man dragged himself in, his right arm in a sling.
The doctor asked, "What happened to you?"
The man said, "No one showed up...."
Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come
to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.
Money can't buy happiness - but somehow it's more comfortable to cry
in a Corvette than in a Yugo.
How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes
whole box to start a campfire?
There are no new sins; the old ones just get more publicity.
